The EMA 200 is the trend side, coloured by state: teal while price closes above it, red below, and grey while it is flat, barely moving against price's own volatility. While the EMA is flat, price tends to chop across it and above / below stops meaning much. The grey is a display only: it does not block signals.

These two are the heart of the three-line method: the trend side and today's advantage must agree with the signal.

All three are direction-free: they pass or block both sides together.
