The K2 cross badge marks the first bar where the fast EMA crosses the slow one, confirmed on the bar's close only, so it never repaints: bull below the bar, bear above.

The two lengths can be changed and are shared by everything that reads the ribbon: the higher-timeframe ribbon, the MTF grid, A2 and every cross alert, so they stay live with the ribbon hidden.
