Auction Profile

TPO and volume profiles of one session on one grid, with the levels and opening range they leave.

Auction Profile shows one session two ways: a TPO profile for where price spent time, and a volume profile for where it traded. Both are built on the same rows by the same rules, so they can be compared price by price, with the opening range, previous and naked levels and one alert stream beside them. It maps the auction; entries, stops and managing the trade stay with you. It was published before as Black Tide Profile and is now part of Arxon Edge Premium.

Included in Arxon Edge Premium. The chart link and the manual are in your account once you subscribe.

Two profiles, one grid

Run as two separate indicators, a time profile and a volume profile each size their own rows, so their levels can land a row apart for no visible reason. Auction Profile builds both on the same rows by the same rules, so their levels line up and can be compared directly. When the row size is set to follow the live session, both profiles, the past sessions and every level move to the new rows together.

  • Value area: the price range where most of the session traded, from VAH (top) to VAL (bottom)
  • POC: the single busiest price
02

TPO profile: where time was spent

The session is split into time brackets, and each bracket marks every price it traded, as letters or blocks. Wide parts of the profile are prices the market kept coming back to; thin parts are prices it passed through. Finished sessions stay behind as shaded outlines, each with its own value area and POC.

  • Single prints, prices traded in only one bracket, are shaded on the side price left them: the trail of a fast move
  • Poor highs and lows, extremes touched in two or more brackets, mark an auction that did not finish

Volume profile: where size traded

The same session, counted by traded volume instead of time, on the same rows, with its own value area and POC. Each day is scaled against its own heaviest row, so every day keeps its own shape: compare days by shape, not by length. The histogram sits beside the TPO, and past sessions keep theirs beside their day.

Levels that wait for price

A naked level is a VAH, POC or VAL that price has not traded back through since its session closed. It stays on the chart until it is tested, however old it is. Weekly, monthly and yearly value areas run alongside, with the latest finished one of each starred. You choose whether these levels come from the TPO or the volume profile; the other source's levels and alerts stay quiet, so no level appears twice under one name.

  • Each label carries an arrow showing which way the level last moved, held until it moves again

Initial Balance

The Initial Balance is the range of the first hour of the instrument's own trading hours: the range the opening auction set. It is drawn as a box or carried forward through the day as high, middle and low lines, with extension levels projecting the range above and below. Opening ranges for the Asia, London and New York sessions are in Session Initial Balance.

06

One alert for everything

A single TradingView alert covers the events you tick across both profiles and the Initial Balance: crossing the value area, tagging a level, breaking the opening range or reaching an extension. Each message names the event and the price, then where value sits against each profile and the Initial Balance. Events are checked at the bar close, so an alert that fired does not reverse.

How to read it

  1. Where both profiles are wide, time and volume gathered in the same place: read it as acceptance.
  2. Where they disagree, treat it as a question. A lot of time on thin volume can mean hesitation; heavy volume in little time can mark a level price moved through quickly.
  3. Treat naked levels as references, not targets. A tagged level is not a trade.
  4. The arrow on each VAH, POC and VAL label shows which way that level last moved.
  5. On most FX and CFD feeds, volume is a tick count, so the volume profile shows activity, not money. There, the TPO is the more honest guide.

Alerts

  • Price tags an untested naked level.
  • Price tags the last session's VAH, POC or VAL.
  • Price tags an untested weekly, monthly or yearly level.
  • Price enters or leaves the value area, or crosses all of it in one bar.
  • Price breaks the Initial Balance.
  • Price reaches an Initial Balance extension level.

Good to know

  • Made for intraday charts, at or below the profile's time bracket. Parts of it hide on higher timeframes, so if the chart looks empty, try a lower timeframe.
  • The volume profile needs real traded volume. Most FX and CFD feeds publish tick count instead.
  • Alerts are checked on the closed bar, so an alert that fired does not reverse.
  • It is a map of the auction, not a signal. It gives no entries, stops or targets, and it is not advice.

Questions

Why two profiles instead of one?

Time and volume do not always agree. The TPO shows where the market lingered; the volume profile shows where size traded. On one grid you can see at a glance when they agree and when they do not.

Is this Black Tide Profile?

Yes, under a new name. It was published before as Black Tide Profile and is now part of Arxon Edge Premium. It starts with its own defaults, so check your settings when you add it.

Does it work on forex and gold?

It draws on them, but most FX and CFD feeds report tick count rather than traded volume. The volume profile then shows activity, not money, and the TPO is the more honest level source.

Does it replace TPO Profile and Black Tide Volume?

No. It is a separate indicator, so nothing on your existing charts changes. A few features stay only in the standalones, such as LVN / HVN zones in Black Tide Volume. Running both is fine.
